Mistake Trainer accounts

If you create an account for the Mistake Trainer, we keep the following in our database so your progress follows you between devices:

• Your email address
• The Lichess and Chess.com usernames you connect
• The games we fetch for you from Lichess and Chess.com: the moves, your opponent's name and rating, the result, the opening and the date
• The puzzles made from your games, your review history and your trainer settings

There are no passwords: we email you a link to sign in, sent through our email provider Resend, and a cookie keeps you signed in. When you connect Lichess, you log in on Lichess itself and we never see your Lichess password. Lichess gives your browser a token that can only read your username; it's sent to us once so we can confirm the account is yours, and we don't keep it. The database is run for us by Neon, through our hosting provider Vercel. You can delete your account and everything in it from the trainer's Settings tab at any time. If you use the trainer without an account, everything stays in your browser and nothing is sent to us.
